Tourists cannot only be having fun without being responsible. As a tourist, you should also be mindful of your responsibilities being a foreigner in that country or a non local in that city. Your manners will tell of the kind of person that you are. Your behavior will be a reflection of your homeland. Be respectful and accountable of your actions when traveling.
One of the seemingly simple but actually big ways you can do that is by making an effort to lessen trash. Whenever you are strolling and going on adventures, you have different travel essentials, and you eat and drink as well. With all the things you use and do, it would be very good to avoid making clutter a sight where you are. Help reduce garbage, even if it is not your house, and not your country.
Here are 5 ways to minimize your trash while traveling.
1 – Reusable utensils
Bring reusable utensils whenever you eat out. If the restaurant provides such, then use those. They are eco-friendly since they do not need to get thrown away every now and then and replaced by another set. Best if you bring your own because they are not only personalized for your own use, but they will help you avoid publicly used spoons and forks, too.
2 – Personal tumblers
Bottled waters are a must when traveling. Sometimes, when you do not have your own from your hotel accommodation, you buy on the way instead or from a convenience store near your itinerary. That allows you to lessen hand-carry loads while traveling, however, if you want to help lessen garbage when traveling, taking personal tumblers along with you is the way to go.
They will not be disposed of but cleaned when you go back to your hotel accommodation. You get to safely use your clean bottle, and you will not need to add to the mountainous piles of plastic bottles out there.
3 – Eco-friendly grocery bags
Instead of using plastic bags that might not decay and using paper bags that can cause unnecessary clutter, carry environment-safe grocery bags! They are congenial to mother Earth, plus they will not ruin your travel OOTDs because there are cute eco bags to choose from!
4 – Support sustainable goods
Do not buy from brands that harm the environment. Supporting sustainable goods will let you decrease your carbon footprint and the amount of toxins discharged into the surroundings. Conserve our world’s natural resources. Make the air quality healthier and cleaner. Augment the health of every human being, not just in that country you are traveling in, but also in the whole world.
5 – Only buy the necessary
To avoid throwing out a lot of food containers, stuff wrappers, papers and other stuff, only buy the necessary. Do not buy what you do not actually need and what you will not really use. They are a waste of money and space. Later on, you might just turn them into trash. Better spend money only on what’s most important while traveling.
